Race Day 

Welcome to Giant 2W Enduro Series. Please find below event briefing and other important information for your event this weekend. See you this weekend & travel safe.

The event HQ for this race is located has not been confirmed for the new season,  we will let you know 2 weeks out from race day

Parking is available within the reserve, huge parking space across the road in the the centre of the bypass plus sealed parking 

Your race packs are available to pick up at the times listed below. In your packs you will find your race plate, Cable ties, Timing Transponder:

  • Registration - Friday 21 Feb  5pm - 7:30pm

  • Registration - Saturday  22 Feb 7:30am - 9:15am


The timing below are confirmed and time penalties may be incurred if the system tags you starting at the wrong start time.

  • Long Course non shuttled - Saturday  9:15am 4:00pm (6hr 45mins)

  • Long Course  shuttled - Saturday  9:25am 4:10pm (6hrs 45mins)

  • Short Course non shuttled+E Bikes  - Saturday  10:15am - 3:00pm (4hrs 45mins)

  • Short Course  shuttled - Saturday  10:25am - 3:10pm (4hrs 45mins)

  • Prize Giving  - Saturday from 4:30pm


RACE 3 (22 FEB 2020) COURSE










We have gone paperless this season! We are working hard to reduce our footprint and one great way is to not print 1500 non recyclable (they need to be water resistant) maps....♻️♻️ ️So, we will not be printing maps, we have something waaaay better. Our team have collaborated with Trailmapps Rotorua to develop a free to download app specifically for Giant 2W Gravity Enduro 2019-20

  • Note this is a Shuttle Assisted Race, if lines are long, think about your options

  • 4 buses (2 small and 2 large) will be running from 9.30am to 3.30pm (refer to maps) We can move up to 280 riders per hour.

  • Number of uplifts is limited only by time.

  • Shuttled riders will receive a wrist band for uplift access that must be worn on their left wrist and shown to the driver when the board.

  • Please be careful when loading your bikes and help one another!

  • Buses have the capacity to uplift between 25-45 riders and their bikes per trip and uplift takes roughly 20–35min return depending on the length of the climb and buses in circulation. Please line up in an orderly fashion where signage directs.


The aid station is located 

  • CamelBak are providing on on-course water station where you can fill up your drink bottles. 

  • The feed station will be provided one again by Harris Tate Lawyers with local chef Dale cooking up a storm.

  • The Harris Tate team will also be on hand to supply plenty of lollies and other goodies to keep you primed and ready. 



  • Your stage directional cues include: Directional arrows, tape, course split signage, course cross-over signage, cones, course marshals. We’ve done the best we can with course marking but you will need to remain vigilant throughout the race and transitions to ensure you don’t get lost.

  • Follow the arrows. No crossing the tape. If you break tape to must repair the break and re-join the track where you left it.

  • Transitions are not marked - so you will need to familiarize yourself with how to get to each stage start point.

  • Clock in at Start of Stage and Clock out at finish of stage by putting the transponder into the hole of the timing box. All transponders are checked prior being issued. It is your responsibility to ensure you check in and out correctly. Look for a red light or a beep which indicates that it's registered. If you are unsure how it works please ask our team before the race starts. 

  • Non-shuttle riders are urged to use alternative routes to the shuttle bus roads when transitioning between stages where possible. Riders who opt to ride up roads used by shuttle buses must use parallel cycle paths if available, otherwise keep left and pull over to give way whenever a bus approaches from ahead or behind. Dust may be an issue!

  • No riders are permitted to ride on any walking tracks.


General safety messages  

It is your personal responsibility to know the safety requirements, compulsory equipment, race rules, terms & conditions of entry available on the event website. Cycle helmets must be worn at all times when a rider is on a bike. Chin strap must be fastened and secured appropriately on head. You need to be self-sufficient.  Please carry what $ or supplies you need to keep your bike in operational order and your body hydrated and fuelled.If you withdraw for whatever reason, please report to the timing personnel at the race finish with your timing mechanism.
On any dual-purpose multi directional pathways to and from the forest and inside the forest, please show consideration to other users and ride to the left, in single file, and keep your speed under control around every bend. Do not block the progress of other users.
Please follow the event marshal’s instructions.
If you come across someone who requires medical assistance you have a personal obligation to stop and assist. In the case of a crash where someone requires medical assistance  this means:
Secure the safety of yourself and others.
Stop the next rider coming down and get them to verbally inform subsequent riders coming down that there is a rider down on the track and that they “must slow down or stop”.
Ask the next rider down to ride on and inform the next marshal of the location of the accident.
Attend to the injured rider to support and reassure them until the medics/marshals arrive.

  • Please apply good common sense. 

  • Know your limits - Err on the side of caution and race safely

  • Give clear communication of intentions to pass and show patience

  • Be a good sport and allow others to pass quickly

  • Please care for our forest and be a tidy kiwi out there

  • Embrace the challenge, have fun, enjoy yourselves out there

  • Smile for the cameras

  • Race stages can be completed in any order.

  • There will be two timing box’s to clock in at the start of each Race Stage (on riders right), and three to clock out at the finish of each Race Stage (to allow riders approaching in close succession to all finish at roughly the same time).

  • Race Stages are marked with blue 2W arrows, white & blue 2W tape, and 2W corflute sign boards.

  • Course splits give riders options related to track difficulty and specific features. The decision is yours. Splits also indicate where the Short stage route and Long stage route deviate.

  • Please apply common sense, ride within your limits and stay in control.

  • Riders who feel the trail presents a challenge beyond their skill level are advised to dismount and walk/run down sections they are uncomfortable with.

  • If a rider has sufficient time they may do a Race Stage more than once, but they must ride up under their own steam to do so (unless they are shuttled riders). The rider’s slowest time for that stage will be dropped.

  • A rider may return to re-start a stage again without finishing it.

  • Riders need to return to the start/finish within their allocated 4hrs and 45mins (for the Short Stage event) or 6hrs and 45mins (for the Long Stage event), otherwise a time penalty of 6 seconds for every minute late will be added to the riders accumulative race time. Riders must return their timing transponder at the finish line.

  • Note: Whilst race stages are closed to the general public, please show consideration for all other forest users.
